1. Introduction

LevelUpESL ("we", "our", or "us") operates the website at levelupesl.com. This policy explains what information we collect (very little), how we use it, and what rights you have. We've written it in plain English — no legalese.

2. Information We Collect

We do not collect any personal information. You can use LevelUpESL without creating an account, providing an email address, or identifying yourself in any way.

The only data stored is your quiz progress (XP earned, accuracy, best streak) — and it is saved exclusively in your own browser's localStorage. This data never leaves your device and is never sent to our servers.

3. Cookies

We use three types of cookies:

  • Essential cookies — required for the site to function (none currently used).
  • Analytics cookies — Google Analytics, only with your consent via the cookie banner.
  • Advertising cookies — Google AdSense uses cookies to deliver ads, including personalized ads based on your interests. These cookies may track your activity across other websites.

You can decline analytics and advertising cookies at any time using the cookie banner. Your choice is stored locally in your browser. To manage advertising preferences specifically, visit Google Ads Settings.

4. Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 with Consent Mode v2. This means:

  • Before you accept cookies, GA4 loads but does not store tracking cookies or personal data.
  • After you accept, GA4 collects anonymized usage data (pages visited, device type, country) with IP anonymization enabled.
  • If you decline, no analytics cookies are set.

We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics for privacy-first aggregate traffic counting. This tool never uses cookies and never tracks individuals.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Google Analytics 4 — for traffic analysis (anonymized IP, consent-based)
  • Google AdSense — for displaying advertisements (publisher ID: ca-pub-4222487972398347). AdSense uses cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
  • Cloudflare — for hosting and basic privacy-first analytics

6. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

Because we don't collect personal data, there is very little to act on. But you have the right to:

  • Know what data is held about you — for us, that's nothing server-side.
  • Delete your local quiz progress at any time by clearing your browser's localStorage (Settings → Privacy → Clear browsing data).
  • Opt out of any future analytics or advertising by using a browser extension that blocks trackers, or by adjusting your browser settings.

7. Children's Privacy

LevelUpESL is a general-audience educational site and does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through our site, contact us and we will delete it immediately.

8. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes — for example, adding advertising or new analytics tools — we will update this page and change the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
